Niniejsza czesc normy DIN 5685 ma zastosowanie do spawanych lancuchów stalowych o dlugich ogniwach, dla których nie jest wymagane przeprowadzenie próby obciazeniowej. Lancuchy o ksztalcie G (ogniwa proste) sa stosowane glównie do celów ogólnych, takich jak bariery lub zabezpieczenia przed zgubieniem, a w ksztalcie X (ogniwa toczone) jako lancuchy laczace w rolnictwie.
