Esta norma (DIN 976) especifica las dimensiones y las condiciones técnicas de suministro de los pernos prisioneros con rosca métrica de acero, acero inoxidable o metales no ferrosos.
Los pernos prisioneros con rosca métrica están diseñados para realizar funciones similares a las de los pernos prisioneros de doble extremo (de tipo abrazadera o de ajuste a presión). Esta norma abarca los pernos prisioneros con roscas fabricadas con una tolerancia de 6g, habitual para conjuntos de perno/tuerca del grupo de acoplamiento de rosca N, según se especifica en la norma DIN ISO 965-1. Se advierte que los pernos prisioneros con longitudes superiores a las especificadas para el grupo de acoplamiento de rosca N podrían no ser de calibre exacto.
